The Robot Lawyer That Overturned 160,000 Parking

Hiring a lawyer can be expensive, but a new robot could allow you to access the same advice for free.

DoNotPay, a robot that has been helping people to dispute around 160,000 parking tickets since 2015, has expanded its capabilities this month.

Now, the robot lawyer can help users tackle issues in 1,000 legal areas covering consumer and workplace rights – and it's completely free.

DoNotPay was launched by Joshua Browder, a Stanford University student in 2015 to appeal parking tickets.

And last year, Mr Browder upgraded the bot to be able to give advice to homeless people in the UK.

Now, DoNotPay can offer advice on consumer and workplace rights to people in the US and the UK, including harassment at work, or misleading claims in adverts.

Speaking to Mashable, Mr Browder said: 'The expansion is into consumer rights, from fighting your landlord to getting a refund when something isn't delivered on time.
